SAFETY GLAZING IN THE GARDEN should be a real priority, especially for those with young children - there have been some horrific accidents when youngsters have run into cold frames or greenhouses and cut themselves when the glass shattered. As a minimum, all low level panes should be replaced with a shatterproof material. | .......including Clear Horticultural Acrylic (crystal clear, 10 times the impact strength of glass and minimum 12-15 years outdoor life), Clear SAN (high clarity, very keenly priced but still with a 5 year guarantee), Clear 4.5mm Twinwall Polycarbonate (a lightweight "fluted" sheeting similar to that used on conservatory roofs) and Corriboard an even cheaper translucent fluted material - you can even cut this one with scissors! Clear Semi-Rigid PVC is thinner flexible economy plastic sheeting supplied "off the roll". |

SECURITY GLAZING PLASTICS have always been a major part of the DIY Plastics business. Our recommendation here will always be Clear Polycarbonate - 800 times stronger than glass and as used in riot shields, machine guards etc. We have designed a special Secure Strip to fix polycarbonate on to vulnerable doors & windows to prevent break-ins. |

| If you can't replace glass with a safer alternative, then you should look at our self-adhesive WINDOW FILMS, which will instantly make glass safer and more secure. Clear Safety Film will both make glass more difficult to break, making windows more secure, and hold the splinters in place if it is broken, dramatically reducing the chance of injury. It's easily fitted (use our DIY Fitting Kit which includes full instructions) and once it's in place you won't know it's there. We also offer self-adhesive anti-glare Sun Shade Film - not quite as thick and strong as Safety Film, but still offering valuable extra protection, with added benefits of privacy and improved insulation. |
