 PLASTICS FOR CONSERVATORIES UK

Need materials for your conservatory, sun room or patio? DIY PLASTICS (UK) are the UK's leading retail supplier of plastic sheeting and associated DIY and home improvement products. We supply and deliver all over the UK, to all parts of England, Wales, Scotland (including the Scottish Isles) and Northern Ireland. Established in 1973, the business has built up a wide range of quality plastic products to suit the trade user, the experienced DIY enthusiast and the ordinary householder alike. Here is a summary of our conservatory plastics - please follow the links or use our Product Selector on the left or Search Facility above for more details of each product. Or ask for our full colour catalogue with details and prices of our full range, many more illustrations and lots of useful hints & tips for working with plastics.

A well-constructed and nicely decorated conservatory makes for the perfect addition to the appearance of any home, as well as providing a positive environment for plant growth and an excellent relaxation or recreational area for all the family. At DIY Plastics we are committed to providing you with the top quality conservatory plastics which help create this useful and attractive extra space.

The range of properties expected from conservatory plastics by the modern consumer is demandingly wide, and that is why at DIY Plastics we supply all of the many varieties of “Multiwall” polycarbonate sheeting. “Multiwall” is the material of choice for practically every conservatory today because it is both lightweight and tough (possessing as it does nearly 200 times the impact strength of glass sheeting), safe and secure, and both insulating and light diffusing for the protection and cultivation of delicate plants within. It also helps to reduce condensation, and provides all of these benefits to your conservatory under the guarantee of a 10 year warranty.

Our range of “Multiwall” at DIY Plastics also caters for all the other important factors in conservatory construction and design. The various thicknesses we stock are all available in Clear and Bronze colours (with the thickest varieties also available in Opal) to suit a wide variety of decorative colour schemes. Our “Economy Twinwall” also provides a sound alternative to corrugated roofing at a low price to fit tight conservatory budgets.

Moreover, DIY Plastics’ comprehensive range of other fittings and accessories for conservatory plastics, such as glazing bars, fixing buttons and U Profiles, ensures that you have all the right materials to achieve that clean and neat finish with your conservatory.

polycarbonate conservatory roofing
CONSERVATORY ROOFING is still the biggest application for DIY - there's hardly a conservatory today that doesn't use Multiwall Polycarbonate for the roof - and you can see why! Choose from 10mm Twinwall Polycarbonate, 16mm Triplewall Polycarbonate or 25mm Sixwall Polycarbonate : they're lightweight & tough (nearly 200 times the impact strength of glass); they're long lasting, safe to use & secure when fitted.  Polycarbonate sheeting will add insulation, reduce condensation and diffuse the light. DIY Plastics has one of the most comprehensive ranges in the UK including sheet widths from 700mm to 2100mm and lengths up to 6000mm.  All Structured Polycarbonate sheets - Twinwall, Triplewall and Sixwall - are available in a choice of Clear or Bronze, and Triplewall and Sixwall come in Opal (translucent milky white) too.  And as a final option we offer Clear 10mm Economy Twinwall Polycarbonate as a quality low-cost alternative for those on a tight budget.

GLAZING BARS are stocked for all Twinwall, Triplewall and Sixwall sheets. Our all-aluminium Standard Glazing Bar system includes both the Self-Supporting Bar (for spans up to 3000mm) and the Purlin Bar (spans up to 1500mm). Or there is the Economy Rafter Glazing Bar system (pictured on right), where the bar must be supported by timber joists along its whole length, but the cost is low and the fitting simple. All glazing bars come with end cap, mounting plate (where needed), rubber gaskets, fitting instructions & all necessary screws & fittings. We also offer a sturdy Aluminium Wall Plate to act as variable-pitch top support for Purlin or Self-Supporting Bars.

OTHER FITTINGS & PROFILES include U Profile for capping the open ends of multiwall sheets & aluminium F Profile (picture far left) for support on a side wall, or as a neat outside roof trim. Fixing Buttons (picture near left) provide a simple spot fixing to prevent lifting, with a special Hole Saw for accurate holes. Dust Seal Tape covers the open flutes to prevent dirt & insects getting in but allow any residual moisture to escape.

ROOF VENTILATION is essential in conservatories, and we have a choice of an aluminium Roof Hatch, in kit form but easily put together, and the deluxe PVCu Roof Vent (photo on right), supplied fully assembled and ready to install. Both versions are suitable for either 10mm Twinwall or 16mm Triplewall Polycarbonate and can be fitted to new or existing roofs.SUN SHADING is another must for your conservatory. Sun Shade Film is self-adhesive and cannot be removed once installed, but it can be fitted to the outside of both polycarbonate and glass roofs, and glass windows. Sun Shade Vinyl utilises the famous "static hold" principle (a bit like thick cling film) so it is rather easier to fit, and can be removed and re-used later. The vinyl should be used on the inside of polycarbonate roofing, but outside on glass, especially sealed units.
